Friday at the Lion Hse Gallery

Here is my new batch of things which I took to the gallery today. This dish as little feet.
I met both Jane and Lizzi and we shared a very nice coffee (made by Lizzi) her house backs on to the gallery and mince pies. Although there wasn't a customer in sight we had a good time arranging and as they say "playing shop".
I like this bowl. It's hard to part with things you like.

These are my flat things. Jane (from the gallery) thought that they could be soap dishes. Or for candles

Here is the very very nice Jane helping me price up the items. Very hard to get it right.

Here is the gallery window with my stuff in. There was even a little label saying "Flora Olney". I couldn't believe it.

Here it is inside. I had so much that it was a squeeze.

New flower design. Red is the colour of the season and sells best.

Tuesday

You may think this an odd picture but its more of my flat things drying on a radiator. I really love these things. I just love there little feet.

So the good news that the little kiln is ok and has now fired twice since it was mended. Hurrah.

Today I painted the hearts below, did a glaze firing, took more hearts to the Blue Egg who had sold six and threw four things. I also crocheted a red heart decoration for the christmas tree I found in link here http://loobylu.com/ . This lady moved her entire family from Australia to a small island of Canada. Very brave. I like her blog and seeing all the pictures. They have snow already. Apparently we are due some - well Josie quite sure about it.

Here are some smaller hearts as requested by the shop in Thaxted.

Metaphor: I was a taxi driver without a taxi!

So no photos today. I've been a bit to busy as you will hear. Last night went out to check my other little kiln was ok and unfortunately found that it too was not well. Hence I felt a little despairing and a bit like a taxi driver without a taxi. My sense of humour failed me and I felt a decline in my spirits. I went to bed a little sad. Not feeling I could burden Mary with yet another broken kiln (it would be far too much to ask) this morning I went to the wonderful Internet and found Essex Kilns. They were helpful and John told me to load my kiln in my car and drive it to him. So once again this week I found myself driving with yet another kiln in the countryside. In fact I ended up at the seaside! I drove as far as the road could take me to the marina - here I found John who very cleverly discovered that it was not too much wrong and he made right promptly (or I hope - kiln is firing as I write and I will check it later - many crossed fingers). So you see there hasn't been time for photos.

(thank you GA for your lovely supportive comments - much appreciated)

I'm back!

So the first post in a week. But it has been a busy eventful week. Josie had grade four piano. I managed to blow all the electrics in the studio again (meaning the electrcian is having a good christmas!) I also broke my new larger kiln (much anguish and upset) I was trying to be extra productive I decided to use both kilns at once!. So the rule is NEVER use two kilns at once if you don't want and expensive bill that outways all the pottery you made! Hey Ho! I am just about over it.... But couldn't bring myself to blog.

Here is one of the first frosts this winter. It looked beautiful.
Here is some of my new packaging for the Gifted shop in Thaxted.

Here is Simon ready to eat Cake of the week Ginger cake with lime icing.

Here is a jolly card from Leesa!

Here is the ginger cake which I made to my grandmother recipe written in her own hand. However it always turns out nothing like hers. Its the absence of an Aga.

I encouraged Josie to join in. Simon is making yet another... you guessed it head.

I am most pleased with my flat things that I have made some more.

This picture doesn't do this justice. I love it so much I can't sell it. I am not going to make any money just have a lots of pots!

It could be used for a candle.

Here is a lovely bowl I made. Once again its in use.

Finally here is the jigsaw we did today in front of a very lovely fire. We have now run out of wentworth jigsaws!!!

Just love these! Especially with Angie Lewin in the background!

Busy Monday

Funny to start with a cake! This was made at 3 o'clock and is cake of the week. Vanilla sponge with vanilla butter icing ( had to add colouring later due to not finding it at the time) and raspberry jam. Rather good. We ate a quarter of it!

In the morning I painted my funny flat feet things. I have decided that large candles might look good on these.

Here are my new bowls in different stages. Ones on left were thrown today and need turning and the ones on the right need to dry for a bisque firing.

Feeling very enthusiatic due to good sales. Spoke to the lovely Lizzi at the gallery who said what ever you can make we will take! Hurrah!

Here they are close up

Here are Simon's new heads. The one of the right is called "snoring man". He just likes doing heads.

Thank you everyone who has either left comments or emailed me. Much appreciated your feedback.
