Long Melford - Sunday 24th October 2010

Having spent the morning (after pancakes) first showing Simon how to turn his first pots I then made some of my "indented" hearts. After lunch we decided to pop down to Long Melford to visit a National Trust place we had not been to. Josie having got home at 3 in the morning from the Wizard of Oz after show party ( I knew this was the time because I had been awake waiting for her!!!!) decided not to join us.
It was a beautiful sunny day and the place was packed! The picture of the mouse in bed was done by Beatrix Potter ( who stayed in the house). The house was freezing. No radiators on except for the towel rail in the bathroom (one of the NT ladies told us to go there to warm up!). We shared a cup of tea and a piece of pastry/raspberry jam and coconut on top. When we got home I made 20 more hearts!

In this first picture I am wearing the bag I have just crocheted. It has one of my ceramic hearts for detailing.

I liked this picture of the skaters.

This heart in this bedstead was very John Rennie Mac!

The house is owned by the NT but the family still live there until they don't have a male hier!

The day my work went into a Art Gallery!!!!!!!!!!

Another great Saturday.

Here is the gallery which is exhibiting my work. I delivered 44 pieces of jewellery, necklaces and brooches. The last picture is of lovely Jane who works there! She bought the nectlace from me she is wearing in the photo.

Here is a fraction of my jewellery designs. And the work in progress.

Here is the wonderful art studio!

We got home and someone else got interested in doing some stuff!

Look who could throw a bowl first go ever!!!!

What a great day!

We took a trip to Suffolk. On the way we stopped (just before Clare) at a stall we had visited last week to buy some more carrot and corriander chutney. But look at what a wonderful display. I couldn't resist buying the most perfect of pumkins for only £1.80! Also bought were 6 eggs and something called Halloween chutney. I met the owners Dave and I think Carol. They tell me that they will be putting out mincemeat soon. I love roadside produce.

Then we went to Long Melford and looked around some rather snooty art galleries. I was carrying some of my pottery to show but these were deffinately not the places to get it out. A lot of so called art is obviously mass manufactured in the east. It is called art but really has no soul.
We also found that the shop people didn't even say hello when you came in. So not friendly at all.
It's like goldilocks and the three bears. We tried it but these "weren't quite right".

So we went on to lavenham which is lovely. It too has lots of "art" galleries. We went in to a few including the crooked house below. It already sold quite a lot of pottery and the lady was very busy selling some art so we left. I was really beginning to feel that my work didn't belong here or was good enough anywhere.

But then we decided to try one of the last galleries that of the lion Hse. The lady in there said a very nice hello. I asked her if she could give me some advice and she looked at my jewelry and stuff and said to come back at 1pm to meet the owner. It was like a wonderful dream after that. Lizzie the owner couldn't have been nicer and said she would be happy to sell my stuff. It is a dream come true. So I must go into production asap. Unfortunately I am bed ridden this morning with the most almighty cold! Anyway it's really good news and gives me something to really work towards.
